Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing English-speaking proficiency among students in the State Senior High School in East Jakarta. In line with the rapid advancement of digital technology in the era of Society 5.0, English language learning increasingly requires technology-based methods and digital media applications to enhance instructional effectiveness and ensure relevance to current technological developments. The study focuses on the development of students' English pronunciation ability, particularly in relation to the production of the glottal [t]. It examines the introduction of glottal [t] pronunciation through the Wellpron 2025 application as a digital learning medium designed to support students in improving their pronunciation of English vocabulary, particularly words containing the glottal [t]. Data were analyzed using a quasi-experimental research design, which involved systematic observation, measurement, and comparison of students' pronunciation quality. The study compared students who were taught using the application as an instructional medium those who did not use the application. The research was conducted in two classes at a public senior high school in East Jakarta, with Class A serving as the experimental group and Class B as the control group, each consisting of 20 students. This study emphasizes the introduction and practice of English vocabulary containing the glottal [t] and the application of accurate pronunciation through the use of Wellpron. The problem-solving procedures employed a quantitative method by implementing a direct comparative experimental design between the two classes to evaluate the effectiveness of the Wellpron application in enhancing students' pronunciation of the glottal [t]. with
