Abstract
This term paper discusses about translation strategy of idioms in the novel by Victoria Aveyard entitled War Storm. More specifically, this research focuses on answering five formulation of problems. First classification the types of idioms in War Storm novel. Second, analyzes any strategies used in translating idiom from the Source Language (SL) to the Target Language (TL). Third, the equivalent of meaning found in War Storm novel. Fourth, the translation equivalence of idioms found in War Storm novel. Fifth, the translation error found in War Storm novel. This term paper uses qualitative approach and descriptive method. The result shows that most of the idioms used in the novel are successfully transferred in terms of meaning to the TL, and made them readable by the readers. But some of it are not equivalents thus causing translation error and have potential to cause misinterpretation.
