Abstract

A poem is not created in a vacuum culture. A literature work can not be separated from the author who wrote it and the author was not independent of the ideology and thoughts. Authors also can not be separated from social and cultural conditions . All that is reflected in his work.The Japanese have the ability to take something from the outside, then adapted it for the better and more beneficial for himself. Perhaps also for others. After the Meiji Restoration a lot of foreign terms adapted into Japanese. In a collection of poems Jashumon, Kitahara Hakushu much uses foreign terms were adapted into Japanese. Absorption of Western culture by the Japanese is very interesting to study. Japan for two hundred and fifty years before the Meiji restoration isolate themselves from the outside world due to the fear of foreign influences. With the emperor Meiji , Japan began opening up to Western knowledge and technology.Based on the above reference, we limit the research object to discuss the symbolic meaning of gairaigo in the collection of poems Jashumon written by Kitahara Hakushu in terms of the ideology of the authors, the state of Japanese society after the Meiji Restoration. During 20 years since the Meiji Restoration, there is a tendency "westernization" in Japan, everything refers to Western thought. In the Meiji period after the Tokugawa Bakufu government collapse, Japan has allowed of foreign books, mainly from Europe and America. The government has also allowed the Japanese to go abroad. So that scientists can find new discoveries that has been done abroad from the books. Japanese writers can read books the latest literary works from abroad, and can figure out how the state abroad.We would like to introduce a Japanese literary works for the community, especially for those who love poetry. Through this research, the authors wanted to improve the ability to examine a literary work by looking at the foreign influences are absorbed in a literary work in this case Japanese poetry.
