Abstract

s a county consisted of so many diverse culture, religion and ethnicity, it is uneasy for Indonesian society to live together harmonically. Though it can enrich the national culture, but in daily life there are some serious conflicts arising caused by the differential culture. Through qualitative method, this research is aimed to get the richness of short stories written by an outstanding Indian author, Sherman Alexie in relation with the multicultural spirit done by the characters with different culture, religion, and ethnicity. After analyzing through multicultural approach it can be found that this research shows the cultural diversity especially in relation with the family, religion, and political life in Spokane Indian reservation. This result can be part of learning multicultural spirit
