Abstract

This study aims to describe the similarities and differences inpassive sentences Indonesian and Japanese. Here contrasted unsures forming a passive sentences, both of morphological and semantic, and structural role of a passive sentences contained in their characteristics, in terms of syntax and semantics. The research data was obtained from the model of a sentence of two different sources, namely, Japanese newspapers, Indonesian daily newspaper and Japanese textbooks and lndonesian's textbooks; source of reference for Indonesian and Japanese textbooks.Data sourced from newspapers and textbooks are treated as primary data, whileother data are considered as complementary. The analysis showed that the syntactic structure of the role of a lndonesian's passive sentences and Japanese passive sentences have in common they both prepared by the central unsures; verbs play a passive role, and two companions;core and not core. Despite their similarities, not all Indonesian sentences and Japanese can be properly fitted shape. That's because the number of unsures Japanese companion sometimes more than two, whereas in Indonesian at most two. The cause of differences in the number of unsures that are owner-position in both languages.In theJapanese languages are both separated by anoun which agentive role that each hasits own role, namely responders and objective partitif. In Indonesian are not separated by other roles and occupy only one role, namely responders or objective.
