Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to analyze translation techniques and Translation Quality Assessment (TQA) on phrase and clauses in “Siren’s Lament” Season 2 Comic Webtoon by Instantmiso. Descriptive qualitative method is used in this research. The descriptive qualitative research is emphasized on presenting descriptive sentence which is detailed, complete, deep, in which describing the real situation in order to support explaining the data. There are 10 kinds of translation technique found, they are compensation, reduction, calque, literal translation, transposition, adaptation, established equivalent, modulation, particularization, and amplification. Out of 25 data, phrases and clauses, compensation technique is found as the most frequent used translation technique with 7 times, reduction 4 times, calque 3 times, literal translation 3 times, transposition 2 times, adaptation 2 times, established equivalent 1 time, modulation 1 time, particularization 1 time, and amplification 1 time. The result of the questionnaire points out from 25 data there are 12 data considered as accurate, 1 less accurate, 12 considered as acceptable, 2 data considered as less readable, 22 considered as readable, 2 data considered as less readable, and 1 datum considered as unreadable. After analyzing the data, it can be concluded the translation quality of “Siren’s Lament” Season 2 Comic Webtoon by Instantmiso is considered as high accuracy, high acceptability, and high readability.
