Abstract

This term-paper analyzes the theme of literary works in the aspect of psychology experience by the songwriter, John Vesely, when he got a divorce from his wife. The problem to be analyzed is sadness. The approach used is intrinsically and extrinsically. The intrinsic approach used consist of general meaning, particular meaning, imagery, and figurative language. The extrinsic approach used is the psychological of sadness. The songs that will be analyzed entitle Like a Knife, Stranger, and Your Call in the album A Twist in My Story by John Vesely. This study is conducted by using a qualitative method for describing data in the text of the song. The analysis is expected to build the theme of each song through a result of the intrinsic and extrinsic approaches.
