Abstract

This study aims to analyse several utterances in a movie script using Gottlieb’s theory. This research used qualitative approach. The research object in this study is She Said (2022) movie script by Rebecca Lenkiewicz. It is conducted by using descriptive qualitative method because the data based on movie script. There are 96 data that I have analyzed. The results show that there are eight strategies found in the She Said (2022) movie script: transfer (41 data), imitation (15 data), deletion (13 data), paraphrase (12 data), resignation (11 data), decimation (2 data), condensation (1 data) and transcription (1 data). Therefore, out of all data, the transfer strategy is probably used because the most of the data translated the sentences in source language accurately and completely into target language without additional information. Meanwhile, the condensation and transcription strategy is the least used in translation because the translator only put one translation to condense the content so that the simplicity and meaning are maintained, and the meaning is conveyed and only put one translation that is not common in the source language, in other words.
