Abstract

This study aims to analyze the types of swear words and intention of swear words using descriptive qualitative approaches. This research contains two types of data sources, primary data and secondary data. For the primary data I collect the data from movie script from “The End of The F***ing World” series season one. for the secondary data I use two theories from different experts, to analyze the Type of swear I use theory by Wardaugh (2006) and to analyze the Intention of swear I use theory by Searle(1969). There are seven types of swear from Wardaugh theory but I use five types of swear such as : excretion term, animal term, death term, body part term, and sex term. For the Inention of swear I use speech act theory by searle there are five classification such as : Assertives, Directives, Expressives, Declarations, and Commisives. All the theory that I use is related to the Study of Linguistics where swear words become one of the way of communicating. The Series “The End of The F***ing World” shows how swear words effect the way people communicate, In this series the character Alyssa often use swear words and people get offended by her for saying swear words. “The End of The F***ing World” is a good data sources for me because contains many expression of swear words that I can analyze in this research. This research is expected to be very helpful in understanding the use of swear words in “The End of The F***ing World” series season one movie script.
