Abstract
This term paper discusses about the theme of a literary work of novel using the intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. Through the intrinsic approaches are applied concepts: characterization, setting, and plot. Through the extrinsic approach is Obsession. This research will explained the theory of Obsession. The concept of obsession and how it processes will be discuss in this research. In this movie script, Ingrid as the main protagonist shows the condition from the theories above. The primary source in this thesis is the movie script Ingrid Goes West by Smith and Spicer and supported by related theories of Obsessive Disorder, concept and definitions as the secondary sources from journals and websites. This research also can introduce the student of English Language and Culture Studies about Obsession in literary work. This research also can use as a comparison to write a better analysis. And every human being must have an obsession, don't let the obsession become excessive. Excessive obsession can interfere with mental health. And for the young generation, if you are a fan of social media. Make social media a good means of communication.
