Abstract

This term paper discusses politeness strategies of the conversation between six characters on Game of Thrones season 6 Television Series script by using politeness strategies which are: bald on record strategy, positive and negative politeness strategy, and off-the record strategy. The aims of this study are to analyze the politeness strategies in Game of Thrones season 6 Television Series script, to find out the dominant strategy used in Game of Thrones season 6 Television Series script, and to find out the reason why the dominant strategy become dominant in Game of Thrones season 6 Television Series script. This study is a qualitative range of research, types of linguistic research that analyze with method of data collection in the form of Game of Thrones season 6 Television Series script as the primary source and supported by some linguistic sources related to the concept and theories. Keywords: Bald on-record, FTA, Positive Politeness, Davos Skripsi ini membahas tentang strategi kesopanan pada percakapan antara enam karakter yang ada di dalam skrip serial televisi Game of Thrones musim ke 6 dengan menggunakan teoristrategi kesopanan dari Brown dan Levinson yaitu: strategi tindakan mengancam muka bald on record, tindakan mengancam muka bald off-record, strategi tindakan menyelamatkan muka kesopanan positif, strategi tindakan menyelamatkan muka kesopanan negatif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu menganalisis strategi kesopanan dalam skrip serial televisi Game of Thrones musim ke 6, menemukan strategi dominan yang digunakan dalam skrip serial televisi Game of Thrones musim ke 6, dan menemukan alasan mengapa strategi dominan tersebut menjadi dominan dalam skrip serial televisi Game of Thrones musim ke 6. Penelitian ini merupakan ragam penelitian kualitatif, jenis penelitian linguistik yang dianalisis dengan metode pengumpulan data dalam bentuk percakapan dan narasi dari penulis pada skrip serial televisi Game of Thrones musim ke 6 sebagai sumber utama dan didukung oleh beberapa sumber linguistik yang berkaitan dengan konsep dan teori-teori tersebut.
