Abstract

This research aims to analyse about conversational implicature found in a movie script. The research approach used is qualitative with descriptive qualitative method. The object of this research is the movie script titled "A Man Called Otto" (2022), written by David Magee. The research data in this thesis are utterances expressed by characters in the movie script "A Man Called Otto" (2022). The results of this research are that the types of conversational implicatures found are generalized and particularized implicatures. The result shows that there are 40 conversational implicatures, including 20 generalized implicatures and 20 particularized implicatures. Therefore, the conclusion of this study is that the characters use implicature in their conversations because the characters want to convey their feelings indirectly through the implicit meaning in an utterance.
