Abstract

This study deals with the analysis of polysemous found in The Batman (2022) movie script. The objectives of conducting this research were to identify the polysemous words, to describe their meanings and to find out the most dominant kind of polysemy used by characters in “The Batman (2022)” movie script. The script consists of 80 pages were taken as the data. The researcher used qualitative method with descriptive approach in this study. The researcher used Menfred Krifka (1998) theory and Geoffrey Leech (1983) theory of meaning in analyzing the use of polysemous words in the movie From the data obtained, there were fourty five (45) polysemous words. From the 45 polysemous words there were 7 categories types polysemous words in this research and 1 types not find There were: Container/contained Alternation 5 word, Plant or food alternation 5 word, Alternations between containers and contained 9 word, Figure/Ground reversal 8 word, Product/producer alternation 6 word, Alternations involving location 12 word, Process/result Alternations (not find)
