Abstract

Schizophrenia is a mental disorder, one of which is characterized by reduced ability to express emotions in sufferers. The problem raised in this research is about the realization of emotional expression of Schizophrenics sufferers on Instagram through a semantic approach, namely by using the theory of meaning of denotation and connotation to find linguistic markers that refer to emotions that emerge in the expression of Schizophrenia sufferers on Instagram captions. In addition, the researcher will also analyze what forms of lingual units become linguistic markers on these emotional expressions. The theories involved in this research are theories about meanings, kinds of emotions, theories about lingual units, and some explanations about Schizophrenia according to experts.
