Abstract
This term paper aims to analyze the transcript of the film The Conjuring 3: Devil Made Me Do it written and directed by James Wan which tells about the murder case committed by Arnie Johnson in the real world in 1981. Where for the first time an American has pleaded not guilty to a crime he committed because he was possessed by an evil spirit. This paper discusses the theme of film script literature using intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. Through an intrinsic approach, the concepts of characterization, plot and setting are applied. Through an extrinsic approach, the extrinsic approach that I use is a literary psychology approach. In this approach I use the concept of courage by Aquinas and the concept of exorcism by Gabriele Amorth. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The data collection method that I used was to analyze the dialogue pieces from the script of The Conjuring 3: Devil Made Me Do It as the main source. And supported by some literature to link relevant theories, concepts and definitions as secondary sources.
