Abstract

This term paper discusses about the violation of maxim generated to conversational implicature of Lady Gaga interviewed by Stephen Fry using cooperative principle theory from Paul Grice. In the cooperative principle there are four maxims; maxim of quality, maxim of quantity, maxim of relevance, and maxim of manner. Moreover, several supporting theories are also used to support this research. The author indicated that Lady Gaga violates the conversational maxim generated to conversational implicatures when interviewed by Stephen Fry. The conversational implicature can occur because there is diferrent shared knowledge between the speaker and the hearer that cause misunderstanding. This research was analyzed by using descriptive qualitative method. Descriptive qualitative is a method that concern on structure and pattern. Keywords: Paul Grice, cooperative princple, violation, maxims, implicature Skripsi ini membahas tentang pelanggaran maxim yang menghasilkan implikatur percakapan dari Lady Gaga yang diinterview oleh Stephen Fry menggunakan teori prinsip kerjasama dari Paul Grice. Dalam prinsip kerjasama terdapat empat maksim; maksim kualitatif, maksim kuantitatif, maksim relevansi, dan maksim pelaksanaan. Selanjutnya, beberapa teori pendukung juga digunakan untuk mendukung penelitian ini. Peneliti menunjukan bahwa Lady Gaga melanggar conversational maxim yang menghasilkan implikatur percakapan pada saat diinterview oleh Stephen Fry. Implikatur percakapan bisa terjadi karena adanya ketidaksamaan pengetahuan antara pembicara dan mendengar yang mengakibatkan kesalahpahaman.Penelitian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode kulitatif deskriptif. Deskriptif kualitatif adalah metode yang menyangkut struktur dan pola. Kata kunci:Paul Grice, prinsip kerjasama, pelanggaran, maxim, implikatur
