Abstract
Music is a one of devices to express our feelings, especially Song. In song, we find the lyrics that represent what we are feeling, and we find a connection with it. The language use in song lyrics is similar to a poem. One of the things that can make the lyric powerful is the use of figurative language in it, so it sounds more interesting. But the problem is not everyone can understand it. This research aims to analyze the use of figurative language in Lorde’s Melodrama album through X.J Kennedy’s theory. In addition, it finds out the meaning consisted. The writer hopes that this research will help the reader to get a better understanding about a song they are listening to which contains figurative language.
