Abstract

Part of the pragmatics that students learn is the speech act. Speech act is to use sentences to perform actions, in daily life speech acts appear in sentences such as in movies, speeches, novels, and others lying down. Jumanji script films: the next level and the next goal is to describe the representation of illocutionary used by the main characters in the Jumanji script. This study discusses analyzing the speech acts used by the main characters in the Jumanji script. In this analysis, the action that appears behind the sentence and its impact on the listener after that sentence is stated. The researcher also took several references such as journals, websites, books to support the main data. Methods of data collection, I used documentation because the data were collected from these films and subtitle films. The data is arranged based on types of speech acts of illocution and perlocution. Then the speech acts of each type were analyzed using John R. Searle's speech act theory.
