Abstract

This thesis deals with deixis in The Good Dinosaurs Movie Script.The Good Dinosaurs Movie Script can be analyzed using pragmatics approach, especially using the theory from George Yule (1996) about deixis analysis. I selected this movie as subject of analysis because the popularity of the movie, many deictic words and also this movie has good moral value .The objective of this research is to find out the types of deixis , the most dominant of deixis in the movie and the moral value use contained in analysis deixis in "The Good Dinosaurs" Movie.This research is a qualitative research. The data source of this thesis is the manuscript from "The Good Dinosaurs" movie. Then watch the movie and read the manuscript while identify the dialogues which contain of deixis. And then I analyzes them and gives the reason why the dialogues are categorized as fulfilling deixis.The result of the research showed that three types of deixis using George Yule (1996) theory such as person deixis ,place deixis and time deixis are used in “the Good Dinosaurs “ movie sript .The use of personal deixis indicated the participant in this movie. While, the spatial or place deixis indicated location and place of event from the participant. Moreover, the temporal or time deixis indicated the timing of speech event which is used in this movie. The result of the research showed that three types of deixis found in The Good Dinosaurs movie there are 595 data from the types of deixis in the movie. They has different number of finding data which 512 person deixis,60 place deixis , 23 time deixis. The most dominant deixis is personal deixis which consisted of 512 deictic expressions.It showed that the movie tells about the moral value.
