Abstract

This term paper discusses about the theme of literary work of movie by using intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. Through the instrinsic approaches are applied concepts: characterization, plot and setting. Through extrinsic approaches are defense mechanism as rationalization and trauma concept. This study are the variety of qualitative research, types of library research, interpretative analysis using the method of data collection in the form of literary texts from the movie To The Bone by Marti Noxon as a primary source and supported by some of the literatures to relate the theory, concept and the relevant definition as a secondary source. The results of this study found that there was a defense mechanism action experienced by Ellen in the movie script To The Bone. The movie script is not only about Anorexia Nervosa, but also defense mechanism action as Rationalization and Denial by Ellen.
