Abstract

This term-paper aims to analyse speech using the critical discourse analysis approach. Through critical discourse analysis approach, I analyze hidden meaning in the speech. I also analyze language and ideology in this term-paper. In analyzing language, I use figurative language. Figurative language consists of a lot of types such as personification, allusion, idiom, pun, alliteration, onomatopoeia, hyperbole, simile, metaphor, and implied metaphor. In analyzing ideology, I use three levels of Van Dijk theory which is macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure. The approach of the research that used in this research is qualitative approach. The object of this research is a speech by BTS from “Dear Class of 2020” graduation event that held by Youtube. The data of this research are collected from the caption of BTS’s YouTube Channel that called BANGTANTV. The result of this research is as follows. First, the hidden meaning that found in BTS’s speech. Second, figurative language found in the speech are hyperbole, simile and metaphor. Third, the ideology found in the speech are macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure. In this speech, BTS are encouraging all the 2020 graduates who wants to face the future and to being a great adult.
