Abstract

This paper will be analyze using intrinsic approach and extrinsic approach. Through the intrinsic approach is applied concept: theme, characterization, setting, and plot. And through an extrinsic approach, consist of Sexual pervesion (Lesbianism) theory by Freud are analyzed on Celie's character. The approach of the research that used in qualitatuve approach. The object of this research is The Color Purple novel by Alice Walker. This study aims to reveal the factors of Sexual pervesion (Lesbianism) in Celie's character. Celie has a Sexual pervesion (Lesbianism) caused by verbal violence, physical violence, and sexual violence from men since Celie was little until marriage. I used Freud's Sexual Pervesion theory to analyze this research.
