Abstract
This term paper is about research on how the king princess puts meaning in the songs she sings through media in the form of songs and also music videos, this study aims to find the implied meaning behind video clips and also song lyrics, through semiotics we can find out the meaning of denotation and the connotations the songwriter or singer is trying to convey. Here I also use the queer theory, namely the theory of gender performativity where it is explained that gender is something that is displayed to the public not the type of sex that we have at birth, here King Princess through the media of songs and video clips tries to convey this with lyrics that lead to the queer theory which discussing gender and sexuality. She clearly describes her sexuality which is she is a part of the LGBTQ+ community through the media of song lyrics and visuals through videos that describe her attraction to women. In addition, gender is also tried to be displayed through video clip media which depicts her changing masculine and feminine clothes, this is very closely related to queer theory where gender is trying to be displayed through the clothes she wears.
