Abstract

Semantics is a branch of linguistics that deals with the study of meaning. Lexical and contextual meanings are included in semantics. This study, entitled "Lexical and Contextual Meanings in "DEMI 2013" Album by Demi Lovato, discusses the meaning behind the song lyrics. This study focuses on describing the lexical and contextual meanings contained in the song lyrics of the album "DEMI 2013" by Demi Lovato. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method, because this song interprets the object of the lyrics of the album song "DEMI 2013" by Demi Lovato. In this study, not all lexical and contextual types exist in the song. Researchers only took several types used in this study, on the lexical meaning, namely synonyms, antonyms, hyponyms, homonyms, then for the types of contextual meanings, namely the context of the situation, the context of the goal, the context of the mood of the speaker or listener, and the context of time.
