Abstract
This study aims to analyze the id dominance of a character from a Netflix serial using psychoanalytic theory. The theories in psychoanalysis used to analyse the character’s description, the id dominance in the character and the effect of id domination in the character. This research uses qualitative approach. It is conducted out with implementing descriptive qualitative methods. The research object in this study is James’ character from “The End of The F***ing World” (2019) by Charles Forsman that consists 8 episode in the first season. The research data are collected from the dialogue, the characterization, the plot and the setting which are conveyed by James character in the script of “The End of The F***ing World”. Through data collection, classification, analysis, and interpretation, this study develops its conclusion. The result of this research are find James’ character description in the Netflix serial “The End of The F***ing World, James’ id domination and the effect of id domination lead to tragedy in James’ character. Therefore, the impact of id domination could be the aggressive instinct or death, selfinjury, criminality, liars and psychopath.
