Abstract

This study discusses the meaning of the National Basketball Association's "NBA" logo. The logo is the most important part for a company, because through the logo, the public can see the image and identity of a company. It is through forms of communication on the logo that the message becomes meaningful. Besides that, the combination of signs and messages in the logo is expected to be able to persuade the intended target audience. In this study, the writer will use the Semiotic analysis method to determine the basis of harmony between verbal and non-verbal signs to support unity in a logo. In this study the Meaning of the National Basketball Association Logo was analyzed using the triangle theory of the meaning of Peirce. In his theory Peirce divides the sign into three parts namely, Sign, Object, and Interpretant which is peeled in the theory of triangulation meaning and triangulation.
