Abstract

This term paper discusses the analysis of T-Glottalization of John Mayer’s in pronunciation through the social factors by using phonology approaches and sociolinguistics theories. Phonology approaches are: phoneme, vowel and consonant and T-glottalization and the sociolinguistic theories are dialect, and social factors. The aim of this study is to find out the use of T-Glottalization in John Mayer’s pronunciation, and give the information about T-Glottalization to the readers who are interseted in linguistic major, as especially in English. This study is a qualitative range of research, types of linguistic research that analyze with method of data collection in the form of John Mayer’s songs and the biography from John Mayer as primary source. The term-paper focuses on finding the aspects of social factors that causes John Mayer T-Glottalization pronunciation. Keywords: phoneme, consonant, T-glottalization, social factors Skripsi ini membahas analisis T-Glottalisasi John Mayer dalam pengucapan melalui faktor sosial dengan menggunakan pendekatan fonologi dan teori sosiolinguistik. Pendekatan fonologi adalah: fonem, vokal dan konsonan dan T-glottalisasi dan teori sosiolinguistik adalah dialek, dan faktor sosial. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penggunaan T-Glottalisasi dalam pengucapan John Mayer, dan memberikan informasi tentang T-Glottalisasi kepada pembaca yang tertarik dalam bahasa linguistik, terutama dalam bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif, jenis penelitian linguistik yang menganalisa dengan metode pengumpulan data berupa lagu John Mayer dan biografi John Mayer sebagai sumber utama. Makalah ini berfokus pada menemukan aspek faktor sosial yang menyebabkan pengucapan T-Glottalisasi John Mayer. Kata Kunci: fonem, konsonan, T-glottalisasi dan factor sosial
