Abstract
This term paper discusses about the theme of a novel. It talks about sibling incest between brother and sister, Avery and Atlas. These two approaches there are, intrinsic and extrinsic approaches, are applied to analyze this novel. The concepts that is applied to analyze through intrinsic approach consists of characterization by using showing and telling methods, plot and setting. The concept to analyze through extrinsic approach is sibling incest theory by Sigmund Freud. This research explains about the reflection of Sigmund Freud sibling incest theory in two characters, Avery and Atlas as well as its relation to other intrinsic elements. In this research, The Dazzling Heights novel by Katharine McGee's is the primary sources and supported by some of relevant theories, concepts, and definitions which as secondary sources.
