Abstract
This thesis raises the sociological issue of racial discrimination experienced by black people which is shows in the movie script. This research discusses and proves the existence of racial discrimination by white people towards black people. Due to constant discrimination, the main character in this script, Minty (Harriet), fight to find her freedom and escape from the slavery she experiences. This makes Minty (Harriet) continue to struggle to help and also make the free for other slaves. This research uses an intrinsic approach with apply concepts such as characteristics, plot, and setting. This research also uses an extrinsic approach such as racial discrimination which the theory comes from the sociology of literature. This thesis also consists of various qualitative studies, research from the literature using the data collection method from the movie script Harriet by Gregory Allan Howard as the main source and supported by several kinds of literature to connect theories and also several journals on extrinsic approaches to understanding the concepts and definitions that are suitable as the secondary material.
