Abstract

This study aims to analyze about the theme of a literary work of a movie script. It talks about a new student who was bullied because of the flaws in his face. The discussion is about the theme of a literary work by applying two approaches; intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. The concepts that is applied to analyze through intrinsic approach consists of characterization by using showing methods, plot, setting and theme. For extrinsic approaches it consist of psychology of literature and concept of verbal bullying. The approach of the research that used in this research is qualitative approach. The object of this research that I used is Auggie as the main character of Wonder and supported by a several other sources. The data of this research are collected from movie script “Wonder” by Stephen Chbosky. The result of this research is as follows. First, verbal bullying found in movie script Wonder by Stephen Chbosky. Second, Auggie has not had hordes of friends over the course of his life, but he is well-liked by the friends he does have, and warmly loved by his family. So he is not lonely, per se but he is pretty socially isolated. Auggie wants to assure every child who is physically deficient in this world to be strong, influential and have confidence in facing injustice in socialization. The movie script “Wonder” by Stephen Chbosky inspires physically deficient children to become brave children and can do anything under any conditions as physically deficient children. In this movie script, Auggie is out here representing children who are physically deficient and struggle against social injustice.
