Abstract

This research aims to analyze the Green Book movie script by using an intrinsic and extrinsic approach. Meanwhile, racial discrimination as an extrinsic approach was used to analyze the data. The research approach used in this research is a qualitative approach. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method because the results of the data used words, sentences, and language. The object of research is the Green Book movie script. The data of this research was collected from the contents of the dialogue conversations and even the sentences in the dialogue in the Green Book movie script. The results of this study are as follows, the elaboration of intrinsic and extrinsic elements which include racial discrimination. The representation of types of the racial discrimination contained in the Green Book movie script is individual discrimination or discrimination treatment obtained by individuals, institutional discrimination or discrimination treatment by institutions or policies, and structural discrimination or discrimination treatment in a structured manner. It is hoped that this literary work will motivate us to know the types of discrimination that occur in America against black people. In this film, it is shown how the characters try to fight discrimination and survive with the help of other characters.
