Abstract

This term-paper analyzes the cause of the main character's prolonged personality disorder that lead into crime. To collect data, the method used in this thesis is libary research. The writer also takes data from internet and journals to complete the analysis. This term-paper uses descriptive analysis with applying psychological approach to find the caused of the personality disorder, the types of personality disorders, and the effects that happened because of the personality disorder in the main character in Alex Michaelides's The Silent Patient. The findings of the study show that Alicia and Theo suffers antisocial and paranoid personality disorder, which are failure to conform social norms, deceitfulness, impulsivity, irritability and aggressiveness, reckless disregard for safety of self and others, and lack of remorse. Their personality disorder is caused by their parents. Their parents especially their father always be rude all the time. Alicia in which the main character, Alicia, is a girl who is perfect in everything she does. Meanwhile, her husband cheats on her with Theo wife. Everything lead the main characters do the criminal act.
