Abstract

This thesis discusses the theme of the literary work of “Ma” movie script using intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. Through an intrinsic approach, the concepts of: characterization, plot, and setting are applied. Through the extrinsic approach is psychology of literature theory through the concepts of revenge and emotional classification (sadness and hatred). In this study, I researched the words of the main source by reading, observing and then analyzing to find out the complex picture of the real situation of the main character in the film. The purpose of this thesis is to find out how revenge is depicted and also to find out why Sue Ann took revenge on this movie script. The research that I use is qualitative research, literature research, interpretive analysis using data collection methods in the form of literary texts from "Ma" movie script by Tate Taylor as the main source and supported by several literatures to link relevant theories, concepts and definitions as sources. secondary. This research is a type of qualitative research, type of literature research, interpretive analysis using data collection methods in the form of literary texts from “Ma” movie script by Tate Taylor as the main source and supported by some literature related to relevant theories, concepts and definitions as secondary sources. The results of this study show the causes of revenge and how revenge is described by the main character Sue Ann.
