Abstract

This term paper discusses the theme of a novel by Elizabeth Klehfoth “All These Beautiful Strangers”. This novel tells about a woman named Margot Whittaker who still has revenge for her ex-fiancé, Alistair. because Margot still loves him. Two approaches, intrinsic and extrinsic approaches, are applied to analyze this novel. The concepts that are applied to analyze through intrinsic consist of characterization by using showing and telling methods, plot, and setting. The concept to analyze through the extrinsic approach are revenge by Krech and love theory by Robert J. Sternberg. This research explains the concepts of Krech’s revenge theory and Robert J. Sternberg’s love theory in one character. Margot Whittaker, as well as its relation to other intrinsic elements. In this research, All These Beautiful Strangers novel is the primary source and supported by some of the relevant theories, concepts, definitions which as secondary sources. Based on the results of this term paper, it can be concluded, If there is something that makes us disappointed, don't hate it. We must give great sympathy, even when they treat so badly. God will show the best for us, and we should be grateful to God.
