Abstract

This study aims to analyze the psychopathic character of Michael Myers. In the Halloween movie script, the character has a psychopathic personality which is reflected through his behavior. I use intrinsic and extrinsic approaches to analyze this movie script. Through an intrinsic approach, I use characterization through showing method, plot, setting and theme. In my extrinsic approach, I use the concept of psychopathic personality disorder. This research is conducted with a qualitative method because this study draws conclusions based on the data that has been obtained. The data object of this study is the character Michael Myers who is the main character in David Gordon Green's Halloween movie script. The theme in this movie script is developed through an intrinsic and extrinsic approach. All these elements are elaborated to reinforce the theme of this movie script. I found that the psychopathic characteristics possessed by Michael Myers' character in this movie script are lack of empathy, lack of remorse, manipulative and anti-social behavior. Michael Myers is a malevolent psychopath because he has the characteristics of this type of psychopath, namely stalkers, murders, serial killers and sadists.
