Abstract

This research aims to analyze the schizophrenia of Ray Monroe as the main character in Fractured movie script by using intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. The intrinsic approaches that are used are characterization, plot, and setting. The extrinsic approaches that are used are psychological approach and theory of mind in schizophrenia. This research uses qualitative approach and descriptive qualitative method. The object of this research is Fractured movie script as the primary data, books that explained the intrinsic and extrinsic approaches, characterization, plot, setting, psychology of literature, research journals, thesis from previous researchers that discussed about schizophrenia, and theory of mind in schizophrenia as the secondary data. The results of this research are the characterization of Ray Monroe as the main character, the characterization of several support characters, the plot and setting of Fractured movie script, the schizophrenia symptoms of Ray Monroe that can be seen, and the elaboration between the intrinsic and extrinsic approaches to prove the theme of this movie script. Theory of mind in schizophrenia can explain the disorders and symptoms of schizophrenia. Schizophrenia can be happened when the mind is being abnormal and because it is triggered by something. It can also be happened when the person can’t differentiate between the imagination and the reality because of the bad experiences.
