Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze movie script using intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. Through intrinsic approach, I explain about characterization, plot and setting. The concept of sociology of literature and social institution deviation is used to analyze the data in extrinsic approach. The approach of the research that used in this research is qualitative approach. The object and data of the research is movie script “Girl in the basement”. First, I explain about the main and supporting characters in this movie script. Second, I explain the plot that is exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution that are related to this movie script. Third, I explain the setting, that is setting as background, setting as antagonist, setting as a means of creating appropriate atmosphere and setting as a means revealing character that is related to this movie script. And the sociology of literature deviation that related to this movie script, social institution deviation that related to this movie script. “Girl in the basement”. The result of the research that there is the deviation that exist in the main character, which is too overprotective of his child until he has to lock his child in the basement for years and then commits sexual violence against his biological child.
