Abstract

This study aims to analyze a movie script through the intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. The object for this research is using “Knives Out” (2019) movie script. Through the intrinsic approach, the elements that are elaborated focusing on the characterization, plot, and setting. Meanwhile, for the extrinsic approach, I used the discrimination theory and its types along with the responses against it. This research is conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. As to that, the discrimination experienced by Marta character is elaborated within two kinds, direct discrimination and indirect discrimination. This research is also containing Marta character’s responses against the discriminations that she experienced, such as withdrawal and resign acceptance. This research is intended to enhance more awareness and knowledge in terms of the discrimination issue which is stillcommon in our real-life society.
