Abstract

This study aims to analyze the habitus, arena, and capital contained in the Shine novel by Jessica Jung through intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. The intrinsic approach used in this research is the analysis of characterization, plot, and setting. The extrinsic approach used in this research is Bourdieu's concept. This research uses a qualitative approach to analyzing the data. The object of this research is a novel written by Jessica Jung. The result of this research is the description between plot, characterization, and setting with the concept of habitus; the description between plot, characterization, and setting with the concept of arena; and the description between plot, character, and setting with the concept of capital. Based on this research, the novel Shine by Jessica Jung represents the concepts of habitus, arena, and capital through plot, character and characterization, and setting.
