Abstract

This research was aimed to discover the positive politeness strategy by using the theory from Brown and Levinson (1987). And for the data source, this research took a movie script "Turning Red", This study used the descriptive qualitative method and the data of research were script in the film. In collecting and analyzing the data this research applied the theory was found finally, I find out the kind of positive politeness strategy, there are I5 strategies of positive politeness strategy. From the result, I found 21 data which content of positive politeness strategies. In addition, I also found usefulness and context as several factors influencing positive politeness strategies. Another finding of this study is that reason employs factors that influence positive politeness strategies. Winning is achieved because the speaker can gain some benefit from using a positive politeness strategy. The speaker can minimize Face Threatening Acts by assuring the listener that he sees himself in the same way that he agrees with the listener and intends to fulfill the listener's wishes. It is found throughout the data. The second is situations such as social distance (SD), power relation (PR), and size of imposition (Sol).
