Abstract
This research aims to analyze the script of a film using intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. The object of this research is the movie “Inside Out 2” written by Meg LeFauve. This research focuses on analyzing the psychological elements of the main character, Riley Andersen, in this film. This research uses qualitative research methods and is explained using descriptive methods. The techniques used in collecting data are literature, observation, and note-taking. The analysis technique used in this research is narrative analysis. This research uses intrinsic approaches such as characterization, plot, and setting, then associated with extrinsic approaches using James Marcia's theory of identity formation and identity status. The result of this study is that Riley experiences identity formation during her transition to adolescence, this identity formation is then detailed into the identity status experienced by Riley, namely Identity Diffusion, Identity Moratorium, Identity Foreclosure, and Identity Achievement. These four identity statuses are experienced by Riley when Riley faces new situations and friendship environments.
