Abstract

This term paper discuss about the theme of a movie script using the intrinsic and extrinsic approach. This research using the intrinsic approach which contains of concepts: characterization, plot, and setting. This research using the extrinsic approach which contains the theory of trust and psychology of literature theory through defense mechcanism concepts. This study is the variety of qualitative research, types of library research, interpretative analysis using the method of data collection in the form of literary texts from the movie script The Upside by Neil Burger as a primary source and supported by some of the literatures to relate the theory, concept and the relevant definition as a secondary source. The result is I found the theme of this film is An Implication of Trust Issues and Defense Mechanism.
