Abstract
This study aims to explain the context, the classification and the functions of illocutionary acts found in the utterances of the main character, Hiccup and also to explain the impact of the illocutionary acts from Hiccup to other characters in “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” movie script. This study uses a qualitative approach with a qualitative descriptive method to help analyze the utterances that uttered by the characters. The result of this study as follows: there are five types of illocutionary acts in the movie script with in total sixty-seven utterances with twenty utterances are classified as representative, twenty-six utterances are classified as directive, eleven utterances are classified as commissive, nine utterances are classified as expressive and one utterance is classified as declaration. Based on the data, Hiccup often uses directive type of illocutionary act is because he is the head chief of the village. He has the power to give an order to someone else, especially to his dragon.
