Abstract

This term paper discusses about Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder due war experience in the Cherry (2021) movie Script by Angela Russo-Otstot and Jessica Goldberg. The aim of this study is to describe the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder due war experienced by Cherry as the main character through characterization, plot, and setting. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is the psychological disorder after experiencing the trauma. I use qualitative method and psychological approach literary criticism about Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder according to The theory of Flannery. It is conducted by using qualitative descriptive method because the result of describe the data is ‘how’ question concerning specific problem research answered. The research object in this study is Cherry (2021) movie script by Angela Russo-Otstot and Jessica Goldberg. The research data are collected from only dialogue and statement which are portrayed by the main character in Cherry (2021) movie script. This research proves that terrible experiences can cause three main symptoms Of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder which Cherry experiences that shows negative behaviours such as (1) more emotionally uncontrollable, (2) experiences nightmares, (3) experiences intrusive images, (4) insecure about himself and the future, (5) act indifferent to surroundings, (6) more sensitive and irritable.
