Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyse The Midnight Library novel written by Matt Haig with special emphasis on the psychological aspects that affect the main character, Nora Seed. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive approach to understand the characterization, plot, and setting of the novel. The main research object is The Midnight Library novel. In addition, this research will be supported by a thorough literature review that includes books, scientific journals, and other relevant sources of information for secondary data. With this method, the research results are expected to provide a deeper understanding of the complexity of Nora Seed's character in the novel, especially about her psychological dynamics influenced by her life experiences. The results show that her life instinct emerges when she can live according to her wishes while Nora Seed's death instinct emerges due to the failure of events in her life that do not match her expectations,
