Abstract
The research discusses a movie script Split directed by M. Night Shyamalan which tells about a man who has 23 personalities named Kevin Wandell Crumb. Kevin had a traumatic childhood because of the bad treatment of his mother. Due to the trauma, Kevin has 23 personalities, the goal which is to protect himself. This research aimed at exposing the theme of a literary work of movie script using the intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. Through the intrinsic approaches, it used the concepts of characterization, plot and setting. In the extrinsic approach part, it applied psychological concepts of trauma and repression. It is a qualitative research which is a library research type. The analysis employed an interpretative analysis which utilized the method of data collection in the form of texts from the movie script Split by M. Night Syamalan as a primary source and supported by literature which relates to the extrinsic theory, concepts and relevant textbooks for definitions as a secondary source.
