Abstract

This research discusses a movie script from the movie La La Land by Damien Chazelle. The movie tells about story of a young woman named Mia who struggle to make her dream come true. In order to realizing her dream, Mia meet a young man who encourage her until she becomes a famous actress. With La La Land movie script as a source of the research, in this research I use intrinsic approaches with applied concepts, such as: characterization, setting and plot. Through the extrinsic approaches is Hierarchy of Human Needs which are contain; Psychological Needs, Safety Needs, Love and Belonging Needs, Self- Esteem Needs, and Need for Self-Actualization. This study is the variety of qualitative research, types of library research, interpretative analysis using the method of data collection in the form of literary texts from the script movie “ La La Land “ by Damien Chazelle as a primary source and supported by some of the literatures to relate the theory, concept and the relevant definition as a secondary source. By using an intrinsic and extrinsic approach to analyze the script of the film La La Land to get the Hierarchy of Human Needs of Mia Dolan in La La Land movie script.
