Abstract

This research aims to analyze Moana Movie Script using intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. The intrinsic approach used is characterization, plot, and setting, While the extrinsic approach is focused on Karl Marx theory that included conflict theory, nature conservation theory and correlation nature conservation. This research applied a descriptive qualitative method in revealing the data. The object of this research is Moana Movie Script. The results of this research are as follows, explain the characteristic, plot and setting presented in the conflict of nature conservation in Moana movie script, explain the conflict of nature conservation of the main’s character revealed in this Moana movie script and To elaborate between the intrinsic and extrinsic approaches revealed to the conflict for nature conservation in Moana movie script. This movie script tells about the main character Moana who lives in Polynesian Islands. She is the daughter of a tribal chief on a small island called Motunui. As her name means "ocean" in Polynesian, since she was little, Moana wanted to sail across the ocean, even though her father, Chief Tui, had always thwarted her, who thought the sea was dangerous. The image of a woman who is brave and reckless already exists in Moana, where as a child when her grandmother told a legend that an island filled with green plants was now an island inhabited by monsters due to Maui's behavior.
