Abstract

This study aims to analyze the film script by using an intrinsic and extrinsic approach. Meanwhile, the hierarchy of needs according to Maslow's theory, as an extrinsic approach is used to analyze the data. The research approach used in this research is a qualitative approach. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method because the results of the data used words, sentences, and language. The object of this research is the movie script "Gifted". Humans are a unified whole and have five levels of needs. Starting from the Biological needs of the body, the need for security, the need for togetherness, the need for appreciation and the last is the need for selfactualization. Maslow assumed that our needs are arranged in a hierarchy based on the fulfillment of their potential. The results of this study are as follows the achievement of the main character at the last level of need which is supported by other supporting figures. The main character is Mary, a girl who is confident in her abilities and is responsible for fulfilling the five hierarchy of needs with tenacity, hard work, and the presence of a supporting character who helps her. Mary has no problem trying to meet biological needs, security needs, belongingness love, affection, esteem needs, selfactualization needs. This research is expected to be useful for further research and can be a reference for researchers who want to examine the hierarchy of needs according to Maslow's theory.
