Abstract

This research investigated about adjacency pairs in conversation of Bad Boys for Life movie Script from the two main characters in the movie. This research used qualitative research by applied content analysis as a research method. I transcribed the data in written form and analyzed by using theory of adjacency pairs. the majority of the first Pair can be paired Appropriately, as thirty seven feedback can emit a proper response. But, fifty one feedback is improper responses, as the response is answered improperly, that can tells a problem or a conflict is brewing. The most numerous second pair is answer, that consisted of fourteen proper feedback. that means the question is can answered appropriately in the dialogue. But, the most inappropriate response is the Acknowledgement, that describes that the Announcement from one speaker is not acknowledged appropriately at fourteen response of the times. As a story of two Detective facing crime, and the background of African- american for both of the character makes the situation tense, and many curses was spoken troughout the movie. But, after the conflict resolved, the adjacency pair becomes more and more coherent, and the dialogue becomes more paired, and it becomes more and more friendly in term.
